Who should attend

This course is suitable for learners who are working or planning to work in teaching or training roles and need an in-service qualification with a practical teaching requirement.

Course requirements

Learners must meet OTHM entry expectations and have the literacy, subject knowledge, and practical access needed to complete teaching practice successfully.

  • Be aged 19 or above, have minimum core literacy, language, numeracy and ICT skills, and hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in their own area of specialism or be a mature learner over 21 with relevant experience

  • If not from a majority English-speaking country, provide evidence of English language competency and have access to 36 hours of teaching with at least 3 observations of practice totalling 3 hours

Assessments

The qualification is assessed through coursework and evidence against all specified learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

  • All units are assessed and internally quality assured by the centre

  • External verification is carried out by OTHM

  • Learners must achieve a pass by meeting all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit

  • Assessment evidence includes reports, guidance reports, portfolios of evidence, project proposal, literature review, reflection report, action learning findings, and observation of practice where required
