Course requirements

Entry to this qualification is based on OTHM’s published entry profile. Learners are typically aged 18 or above and should hold suitable prior qualifications or relevant experience. Applicants from non-majority English-speaking countries must provide evidence of English language competency.

  • Relevant Level 3 Diploma qualification, GCE Advanced Level in 2 subjects, or an equivalent recognised qualification; mature learners over 21 with relevant management experience may also be considered

  • Learners should typically be aged 18 or above and, where applicable, must meet OTHM English language requirements

Assessments

All units are assessed by the centre and internally quality assured, with external verification by OTHM. Assessment is criterion-referenced and based on successful achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.

  • Assessment method is coursework

  • Learners must achieve all specified learning outcomes and assessment criteria to pass each unit

  • Most units are assessed through coursework of approximately 3000 words

  • Financial accounting and management accounting units may include coursework with preparation of financial statements

Progression

Successful completion of this qualification supports academic progression and wider career development in accounting, finance, business, and management. It provides a recognised route into higher-level OTHM study and university progression opportunities.

  • Progress to relevant OTHM Level 5 Extended Diplomas

  • Progress within 3 years toward the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Accounting and Business

  • Gain direct entry into Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programme

  • Progress into accounting, finance, business administration, or supervisory management roles
